TCAT Henry/Carroll Safe Community Pledge

The College believes strongly in the concept of education as a method for encouraging and maintaining a supportive and safe community. Each student, faculty, and staff member play an integral part in supporting core principles to mitigate the spread of infectious diseases such as COVID-19. While the institution can do its part in minimizing risk on campus, everyone must do their part to support efforts to minimize exposure and spread to peers and colleagues. By engaging in the on-campus community of the institution, you recognize all risks related to exposure to COVID-19. Students, faculty, and staff can help keep our community healthy by being mindful of their actions and following the institutional/public health and safety protocols. As such, we ask each individual to pledge to take responsibility for your own health and help stop the spread of the COVID-19 by agreeing to the following pledge:

PLEDGE

I understand I have a part to play in the fight against COVID-19 and commit to being a responsible member of the campus community. I pledge to uphold the <Institutional Name> Safe Community Pledge every day by demonstrating personal integrity, respecting others, and supporting my college and local community by:

Following institutional/public health guidelines designed to protect myself and others
Limiting the size of gatherings in social situations in accordance with public health guidelines
Maintaining social distancing
Protecting myself and others in areas of campus and where distancing isn’t possible
Washing my hands frequently
Staying home if sick or if I have symptoms of COVID-19
Reporting to school officials if I have tested positive for COVID-19
Wearing an appropriate face mask and other protective equipment as directed by the college
Looking out for others and encourage their faithful commitment to the pledge

COVID-19 Update 4/13/2020

May 18th is the beginning of our Summer term. All new and returning students are scheduled to return to campus at their regular class time (8 a.m. for day classes and 4 p.m. for evening nursing students) for registration and first day of classes.

However, TCAT Henry/Carroll will continue to monitor the status of the COVID-19 pandemic and determine if the reopening schedule will need to be adjusted or modified. We will be ready for the full range of possible scenarios based upon the best and most up-to-date scientific advice and health guidance that puts the safety of our campus members at the forefront.

The following guidelines have been put into place by the Tennessee Board of Regents and will be followed by all at TCAT Henry/Carroll.

  • Currently, we are in the process of deep cleaning the campus and daily cleaning will occur in high traffic areas every two hours.

  • All faculty and staff must adhere to social distancing guidelines.

  • Please remember to adhere to continual, frequent, hand washing requirements.

  • Face masks must be worn by all faculty, staff and students when needed. Please provide your own mask. TCAT Henry/Carroll has a small supply of disposable masks.

  • Everyone who enters the campus will be screened for COVID-19 symptoms daily.

  • Congregating in break rooms and other common areas will be prohibited

We are looking forward to seeing everyone Monday, May 18th!

COVID_19 Update: 3/20/2020

Online classes:

All currently enrolled students should be prepared to transition to online beginning Monday, March 23rd. If you have not been in contact with your instructor at this point, please do so over the weekend. Their email addresses are available on our website at www.tcatparis.edu

If anyone needs help setting up their student email or retrieving their passwords, please reach out to Jan Latimer on Monday and she will be glad to help. Jan.latimer@tcatparis.edu or 731-644-7365

Graduation update:

According to the newest CDC guidelines, large groups of 50 or more should be canceled for a period of eight weeks with additional guidance suggesting limits for groups of ten. After considering all available guidance, we have decided to combine our Spring and Summer graduation ceremonies. Unless the CDC issues new guidelines that extend the time frame for consideration, all students who complete their training during the Spring (January-April) and Summer (May-August) terms will participate in the ceremony scheduled for August 26 at the Krider Performing Arts Center. We hope this helps our Spring students and their families with planning

UPDATE 3/17/20 3:00 PM

As our extended Spring Break reaches mid-week, we wanted to update everyone on our plans for the next couple of weeks.

Beginning Monday, March 23, 2020, all of our adult students will resume classes in an on-line format so be watching for emails and/or phone calls from your program instructors. They will outline the details on how their courses will be delivered for the foreseeable future. Our faculty has been working diligently this week to get materials ready that will be meaningful and rigorous so that you will receive the best education possible by distance and virtual learning.

Students, if you have not heard from your instructors by noon Monday, March 23rd at the latest, please call the school at 731-644-7365. Your attendance and continous education will be dependent on this communication.

Dual enrollment students are not expected to participate in the on-line training as long as their high school remains closed.

All extra campus events have been postponed for the next two weeks as well. Activities such as live work in our Cosmetology program, IT classes, Motorcycle/ATV, and Collision Repair programs will not resume until the students have returned to campus for class. At this time, we do not know when that will be.

These are unprecedented times to say the least and we appreciate your patience as we work on plans for the best outcomes for our students moving forward.

Students please take the rest of this week to rest and prepare to continue learning your chosen trade in a new and challenging format.

Several questions have been posed about our upcoming Spring graduation. All we know at this time is that students who are on track to complete their training in April will be given the opporutnity to do so and will become graduates of this institution.

As for the ceremony which is currently scheduled for April 24th, we do not have any information to release at this time. We recognize how important this event is in the lives of our students and their families; we will keep you updated as to a decision as new information becomes available.

UPDATE 3/15/20 4:00 P.M.

All campuses of TCAT Henry/Carroll: Main campus, Dresden, and Camden, will be on extended spring break for students beginning Monday, March 16, 2020 through Friday March 20, 2020 with the expectation that classes will resume on Monday, March 23, 2020.
